Therapy for Moms Who Are “Fine”

(But Not Really)

Heather Lopez, LCSW

Hi, I’m Heather Lopez (LCSW) — Therapist, Birth Doula, Mom, and unofficial emotional support snack recommender.

Let’s be honest: life is a lot. Sometimes it’s a beautiful, fulfilling experience... and other times it feels like your brain has 72 tabs open, and none of them are responding.

That’s where therapy comes in.

Therapy isn’t just for when things are falling apart (though it's great for that too). It’s a space where you can untangle your thoughts, say the things you don’t say out loud, and actually feel better — with someone who’s trained to help you do just that. No judgment, no “fixing,” no couch confessions under a spotlight. Just you, showing up for yourself.

Whether you're dealing with anxiety, burnout, big transitions, or just want to feel more like yourself again — therapy can help. And yes, even if you’re “functioning just fine” (hi, high-functioners — I see you).

Let’s talk. (Pajamas welcome.)

My Services

Individual Therapy: For When "I'm Fine" Is a Lie You Tell With a Smile

Individual therapy is a space where you don’t have to pretend everything’s okay. You get to show up messy, confused, tired, or totally over it — and still be met with compassion (and maybe a little humor, because healing doesn't always have to be heavy).

If you’re dealing with any of the following, you’re in the right place:

  • Anxiety disorders (panic disorder, social anxiety — shoutout to the overthinkers)

  • Depression (including persistent sadness, numbness, or “why does everything feel like meh?”)

  • ADHD (yes, we can talk about time blindness, motivation black holes, and that one junk drawer)

  • Trauma & PTSD (from “big T” trauma to the quieter, sneaky stuff that still leaves scars)

  • Relationship issues (romantic, family, friendships, or just people-ing in general)

  • Grief & loss (including non-death grief, like identity shifts or major life changes)

  • Identity exploration (race, gender, sexuality, culture, spirituality, or just figuring yourself out)

  • LGBTQIA+ affirming support (whether you're out, questioning, or somewhere in-between)

  • Life transitions (career shifts, quarter-life crises, identity questions, etc.)

Come As You Are. Seriously.

Crying in the Closet is Normal… But Let’s Chat

Let’s be honest: no one tells you that becoming a parent might involve more tears, more frustration, and a whole lot of “what the heck did I sign up for?” moments — whether you're navigating postpartum, dealing with infertility, walking the adoption journey, or figuring out your family planning. Whatever path you’re on, it’s messy, confusing, and sometimes you feel like you're the only one not getting the “miracle of life” experience everyone else is posting about.

Postpartum, Infertility, Adoption, & Family Planning (Because You Deserve More Than Just Google and Wine):

  • Postpartum Support: From baby blues to full-blown emotional rollercoasters, I will help you navigate everything from the baby’s first giggle to the sleepless nights that make you wonder if you’re actually part zombie.

  • Infertility Struggles: If you’ve been through the emotional and physical rollercoaster of trying to conceive, you’re not alone. Therapy helps you cope with the emotional toll of the process, handle disappointment, and give yourself grace along the way.

  • Adoption Journey: Whether you’re considering adoption, in the midst of, or have already welcomed your little one, adoption can come with unique joys and challenges. I’ll support and help you build a solid foundation.

  • Family Planning Decisions: The big questions of whether to grow your family (and how to do it) can bring up stress, uncertainty, and anxiety. Therapy gives you a space to talk it out — without judgment and with full support.

Couples Counseling & Group Work:

Relationships are great, right? Until they're not. Whether you're in a relationship where you’re in sync one moment and fighting over laundry the next, or you're just trying to figure out how to communicate without resorting to passive-aggressive post-it notes, couples counseling can help you get back on track.

Think of it like a relationship tune-up — no shame, no judgment, just two people who want to get back to laughing at each other’s dumb jokes.

From “I Can't Believe We’re Arguing Over This” to “Wow, We Actually Talked About Our Feelings!”

Here’s how couples counseling can help:

  • Communication: Because “We need to talk” shouldn't send you into a panic.

  • Intimacy & Connection: Reignite the spark or at least figure out how to sit on the same couch without fighting for the remote.

  • Conflict Resolution: If arguing in circles was an Olympic sport, you’d both be gold medalists. Let's teach you how to fight fair (and not in a way that involves yelling or passive-aggressive text messages).

  • Trust Issues: If trust feels a little... shaky, therapy can help you both rebuild that solid foundation.

  • Big Life Changes: Moving in together, getting married, or having kids — all things that can cause conflict, but can also be smoother with a little proactive support.

And hey, not in a relationship but feeling a bit lost in life? Group therapy is the perfect way to laugh, cry, and learn with others who are probably going through exactly the same stuff (but, you know, without the weird “group hug” energy you might imagine).

Sometimes, you just need to be around people who get it. Group therapy is where you can share what’s going on in your life — without having to explain your whole backstory or pretend you’re fine when you're not. It’s a great place to connect with others, realize you’re not as crazy as you think, and get some perspective from people who are also figuring out this whole “adulting” thing.

Moms, Schedule Your Appointment Today — Because You Deserve More Than Just "Wine O'Clock"

Therapy is an investment in yourself — and I know the financial side can be a lot. Here's how I keep it as accessible as possible:

  • Insurance: I currently accept Aetna, Cigna, Evernorth, Anthem EAP- Bank of America, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Quest Behavioral Health & Carelon Behavioral Health. If you're not sure if you're covered, I can help walk you through it.

  • Out-of-network? No worries — I can provide superbills if you want to try for reimbursement.

  • Sliding Scale: A limited number of reduced-fee spots are available based on financial need, because I believe quality mental health care shouldn’t be a luxury. No judgment, just a conversation.

If you have questions, concerns, or just want to awkwardly ask “so how much is this again?” — you're absolutely allowed. Let’s talk about what works for you.

About
Me…

Hey there! I’m Heather Lopez — Licensed Clinical Social Worker/ Licensed therapist, Postpartum Support Specialist, and Mom who's probably reheating her coffee for the third time as we speak.

Becoming a mom changed everything: my sleep schedule, my wardrobe, my tolerance for loud plastic toys — and most importantly, my perspective on what real support looks like during the postpartum period. Spoiler alert: it’s not just "nap when the baby naps" or unsolicited advice from your neighbor's cousin.

I help moms who feel overwhelmed, anxious, or like they've somehow lost themselves in the diaper aisle at Target (emotionally, not literally — though I’ve been there too). Whether you're dealing with postpartum anxiety or depression, adjusting to your new identity, or just need someone to remind you that you're not failing — you're just in the middle of a major life transition — I’ve got you!

I combine evidence-based therapy with real talk and a good sense of humor, because let’s face it — sometimes you have to laugh to keep from crying (or do both at once — also totally valid).

If you’re ready to feel more like you again, I’m here to help — no judgment, no perfection, just support from someone who gets it.
